Russians launch double-tap strike on rescuers and medics in Nikopol overnight
In the early hours of June 2, Russian forces in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast carried out a “double-tap” strike targeting rescuers and medics who had arrived to address the aftermath of an earlier attack on Nikopol, as reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

The initial Russian strike directly hit an SES unit in the city.
As a result, two civilians were injured. Rescuers secured them and called for an ambulance. When medical personnel arrived on the scene, Russian forces launched a second strike, injuring the ambulance driver.
The “double tap” strike is a tactic used by the Russian army to target rescuers, medics, and other civilians who are first responders to strike sites. Analysts have confirmed dozens of such incidents over three years since the full-scale invasion, stating that these strikes form a foundational element of Russia’s wartime tactics.
Earlier in April, a “double tap” strike in Sumy injured 14 police officers.
“Double tap” strikes by the Russian army have killed more than 90 rescuers.
